Abhijeet Sawant

Abhijeet Sawant (Marathi: born October 7, 1981) is an Indian singer. He was the winner of India's first Indian Idol, a series which has now seen three such editions.Fremantle Media has taken this concept to several countries which includes Singapore and Philippines and many more.
MEMOIR
Abhijeet Sawant is the son of Mr. Shridhar Pandurang Sawant. He is originally from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is married to Shilpa Edwangker (his long time girl friend). He married on December 3, 2007.

Indian idol
Abhijeet competed in the first edition of Indian idol. Abhijeet beat Amit Sana to win the title of India’s first Indian idol. He won a contract worth Rs 1 crore (10 million) from Sony and a Honda car. The nation’s first Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant, shot to fame when India became enchanted with his voice. His first album “Aap ka Abhijeet” was a runaway hit.

Vocation
He has a lot of albums to his credit.The first one being “Aap ka Abhijeet” . Now he has come up with his second album – “Junoon” - which I think has got more potential in it than the previous one. The first video “Junoon” gave us a new Abhijeet with much deeper sense of vocal cords.it is from this album that one can come across the song “Ek Shaqs” which has excited me. The song ‘Ek Shaqs’ is wrtten by Saeed quadri makes for a wonderful listening and has been rendered beautifully by Abhijeet.
His maiden solo album, Aapka Abhijeet Sawant, was released on April 7, 2005. The album contains songs sung by Abhijeet, Amit Sana and Prajakta Shukre. His second album, Junoon - Abhijeet Sawant was released on 10th July, 2007 and proved to be another good outing.
He has been a having a hectic life since his victory as he has been going helter skelter and going across many places to air his voice which the audience receives with great enthusiasm.
Asian idol
Abhijeet Sawant was representing India in the first edition of Asian idol which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia from December 15 to 16, 2007, which was won by Hady Mirza of Singapore Idol. He did not win the Asian Idol as many say the show was not aired as his fans would have liked .
